Kirtan History
Chanting Mantras is a Yogic technology to connect with yourself.
It started in India when saint Sri Chaitanya introduced Kirtan in the early 16th Century as the means to practice Bhakti Yoga. It emerged in the US in ‘60s with the chanting of the Hare Krishna Mantra on the streets.
Kirtan gained popularity in the late ‘90s, when artists such as Dave Stringer, Krishna Das, Jai Uttal brought Kirtan to yoga studios.
For us, kirtan is a fusion of elements from the bhakti yoga tradition & contemporary influences. It is engaging and the atmosphere is charged with positive vibrations. In such a space, meditation becomes natural and effortless.
It’s powerful, captivating, sweet and leaves you feeling happier.
